Facebook finally gets #Hashtag Support

Wednesday, 12 June 2013

The hashtag was created on Twitter in 2007 as a way of pulling together different posts about the same topic.

Hashtags are coming to Facebook in a move to help users better surface conversations. Support for the all-but-ubiquitous topic organization system was rumored in March and will roll out to a small percentage of users Wednesday. Facebook will roll out hashtags to more users in the coming weeks. The social network wants to make it easier for users to find content already on Facebook, and functional hashtags are the first step. According to Facebook, many users already post hashtags anyway, so why not make them work. Hashtags will be both clickable and searchable, so, for example, topics like #NSALeaks or #NBAFinals will now exist. Hashtags from other services, such as Instagram, are clickable as well. Users will also be able to compose posts directly from a hashtag feed and search results. That could make adding real-time content to specific streams easier than before.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 REVIEW

Monday, 27 May 2013
It might not be moments after the phone is announced, but I finally have a review unit of the Samsung Galaxy S4. The Galaxy S4 is undoubtedly the most lusted after Android smartphone to date. In fact, we'd say that interest in the phone before launch was at least as high as for upcoming Apple phones. The packaging (at least here in the UK) gives the handset a natural feel, looking like a wooden box, with false wood grain.
Inside the wood/natural colouring continues in the internal tray and introductory booklets. Inside, the Galaxy S4 itself, sitting on top of the box with its five inch 1080p screen. I think this is the biggest initial selling point.

At first glance you'd have to err towards an evolution.

HOW TO BLOCK POP UPS / POP UNDERS

Thursday, 23 May 2013
A pop-up is a graphical user interface ( GUI ) display area, usually a small window, that suddenly appears ("pops up") in the foreground of the visual interface. Pop-ups can be initiated by a single or double mouse click or rollover (sometimes called a mouseover), and also possibly by voice command or can simply be timed to occur.
A variation on the pop-up window is the pop-under advertisement, which opens a new browser window hidden under the active window. Pop-unders do not interrupt the user immediately and are not seen until the covering window is closed, making it more difficult to determine which web site opened them.

Ubuntu can be installed from a USB flash drive. This may be necessary for netbooks and other computers without CD drives and is handy for others because a USB flash drive is so convenient.
Booting from a USB flash drive created with this utility will behave just as if you had booted from the install CD. It will show the language selection and then the install menu, from which you can install Ubuntu onto the computer's hard drive or launch the LiveCD environment.

What is ADSENSE

Wednesday, 8 May 2013
Google AdSense is a program run by Google Inc. that allows publishers in the Google Network of content sites to serve automatic text, image, video, and rich media adverts that are targeted to site content and audience. These adverts are administered, sorted, and maintained by Google, and they can generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis.

Google uses its Internet search technology to serve advertisements based on website content, the user's geographical location, and other factors. Those wanting to advertise with Google's targeted advertisement system may enroll through Google AdWords.

WINDOWS 8 REVIEW

Microsoft has long dominated the desktop and laptop markets with its Windows operating system, but things have started to change; Apple has started to gain market share with its Macs, while tablets, led by the iPad, have started to eat into the traditional PC’s dominance. It’s clear, then, that Microsoft has to change to keep up and that’s where Windows 8 comes in: it's an OS designed for traditional desktops and tablets alike.

Windows 8 now has two interfaces. So, as well as the Desktop view that we’ve all come to know and love, there's also the Metro interface, with its Live Tiles.
