Save Files From Web to Dropbox, Google Docs, SkyDrive Etc. With Cloud Save

The usual route is from the desktop to the cloud. Or, download something from the web…save it to your desktop – and then upload it to the cloud. You can now move and save files directly from the web to your cloud based accounts like Google Docs and Dropbox.

Cloud Save is a Chrome browser extension that allows you to get around your desktop and download files straight to your cloud storage accounts.

It supports Google Docs, Box.net, Dropbox, Amazon Cloud Drive, Windows Live SkyDrive, SugarSync, Facebook, Picasa, Flickr, Min.us, Twitpic and more.

After the Google chrome extension has been installed, the rest is easy. Just right click on the on the file you want to download, Select cloud save. The extension also give you an option to rename the files besore you save them.


Alternatively, Amit Agarwal is a personal technology columnist, author and founder of Digital Inspiration who has developed  a little web app that will let you save files from the web directly to any of your cloud drives be it Dropbox, Google Drive or Windows SkyDrive. 
There’s no sign-up required, you don’t have to install any extensions and the app works on mobile devices as well.
The app can work as a proxy as well allowing you to download files from websites that may otherwise be blocked /inaccessible in your country /workplace. All you need to know is the URL of the file.
