How To Try Android Apps before Buying

Thursday 29 August 2013
android appsGoogle’s online Android Market  is huge with more than 1,000,000 apps for Android mobile phones and tablets. Many apps are free of cost. But there are even better apps on Play Store which people need to buy.
People are often getting cheated. There are many apps which are deceptive. They look good, but are not really that good. Sometimes these apps are marked with very high price and its obvious most people would want to use the app and test the various features before loosening their purse strings.

There is a solution for that problem. Had there been no solution, people would have been cheated by many not so good apps. There are actually two solutions for the problem. I will take you through the two options to get around the fear of 'loosing' your money on the android app store.

METHOD 1: Using Google's 15 minute feature

Once you download a paid app from Google Play store, your account is not Debited until 15 minutes after the download. After you buy an app from the Android market, use it for about 10-12 minutes and then refund the app. The app will be uninstalled from your mobile phone and your account won’t be charged.

How to Refund an Android App?

It take a few easy steps to refund an app to the Android Market:

  • Visit the Google Android Market, either on your desktop or your mobile phone, and buy any of the ‘paid’ apps.
  • The app is now installed on your mobile phone. Launch the app and you can test it for the next 10-12 minutes.
  • Go back to the Android Market app on your mobile phone and under “My Apps,” tap the app name that you are trying to refund. Hit the “Refund” button and the app will automatically uninstall from your mobile phone.
  • Once the App has been uninstalled, it may ask you to specify a reason for removing the app. You can check “I’d rather not say” here and the app amount will be refunded. You’ll also get an email from Google saying:

"You have uninstalled the application from your phone. We have cancelled your order and you have not been charged."

There are two important things to know about the Google Refund Policy.

  1. The 15 minute feature is available only once for each app
  2. You only have 15 minutes to return an app to the Android Market from the time of download after which the “refund” option will disappear from the app.

METHOD 2: Using of AppSurfer for checking apps

AppSurfer is a new Android application that not only showcases apps, but also lets you try them out before you download them. It’s easy to use and the list of apps available is continually growing. This method is ideal if you feel that 15 minutes are not enough to review ant test an app.

After downloading and installing AppSurfer,  you either browse or search through the available apps until you find the app you want to buy. select it and you will be presented with a simulated interface of that application, plus a description box. You can simply play about with the app- testing it out and seeing if it is right for you. You can do all this from the AppSurfer interface.

Amazon runs a parallel online store for Android Apps and one good thing about Amazon’s store is that it lets you test and test apps before you actually buy them.
